Fire Protection Services
The evaluation or assessment of fire protection needs is a natural extension of our expertise in consequence and risk analysis. We begin with a thorough analysis of the risks associated with a facility and develop the most suitable fire protection strategy to mitigate risks. We offer the following fire protection services:
- Fire and life safety code assessments of existing and proposed facilities
- Fire risk analysis
- Evaluation of insurance underwriter (i.e., FM Global) design criteria
- Evaluation of fire water infrastructure and hydraulic calculations, including fire water pumps and distribution
- NFPA 59A fire protection evaluation for LNG facilities
- Foam suppression system replacement strategies to address PFAS/PFOA environmental concerns
- Fire suppression system criteria for storage applications (warehouse, high-pile, HAZMAT, etc.)
- Design of fire suppression systems including sprinkler, water spray/deluge, foam, clean agent, dry chemical
- Fire pump, fire water storage sizing
- Selection and placement of gas detectors, flame detectors, and low temperature detectors
- Selection and placement of fixed fire suppression equipment such as hydrants, monitors, portable and wheeled extinguishers
- Hazards analysis for use in development of passive mitigation strategies (i.e. spill control/containment, fire proofing)
- Thermal radiation/heat flux calculations for fire water applications
- Evaluation of site-specific emergency response plans
The services described above may apply to aircraft hangers, battery storage, bus terminals, warehouses, and petrochemical facilities.
