Overpressure Exceedance Analysis (OEA) is a facility siting methodology that uses a risk-based approach to evaluate potential overpressure impacts within a given facility.
This type of study may be required by API RP 752 and 753. It combines an extensive investigation into potential explosion events with the probability of each unique event. The result, as demonstrated in the overpressure exceedance curve to the right, is a measure of the probability that a specific building could experience a range of overpressure impacts. This can aid in decision-making concerning the placement of a building, its suitability at a location, or whether the building requires structural upgrades.
